5 Reasons Why Gran Turismo 5: Prologue beats Ferrari Challenge

by Andrew Jeffery - July 11th, 2008

Following on from Part 1 of this feature focusing on Ferrari Challenge, Part 2 will now focus on how Gran Turismo 5: Prologue beats Ferrari Challenge. Five reasons why Gran Turismo 5: Prologue beats Ferrari Challenge Visuals While the Ferrari Challenge visuals are impressive this is one field where Gran Turismo blows Ferrari Challenge out of the window. You only really notice how good the visuals are in Gran Turismo 5:P after playing other racers. The car models are spot on, the tracks are recreated to such a high standard, and also every last detail has been recreated to a near photo-realistic standard. You can even see the sitches on the drivers gloves when racing using the in car view. Presentation The best word to describe the presentation of Gran Turismo 5: Prologue is Slick. The menu system is quick and easy to use, allowing you to get to where you want to with little effort and while doing this your treated to your currently selected car being shown in various settings. Car Handling Now this is the one area where Gran Turismo has prided itself on for years and while Ferrari Challenge provides us with a great physics engine, its only just takes a bit of shine away from the one GT uses which has been perfected over the space of a decade. Taking it from a pure simulation view, the way the cars handle in Gran Turismo 5: Prologue is second to none at present. Free DLC While it hasn't been confirmed whenever or not the DLC for Ferrari Challenge will be free or not, one thing for sure is that Gran Turismo 5: Prologue will recieve free DLC, as soon as GT5:P owners booted up the game for the first time, they were treated to a bucketload of new cars and a new track at no extra cost, and expect more of this to come. Online While Ferrari Challenge offers a fairly decent online service, there is more depth to the one currently in place on Gran Turismo 5: Prologue. With new events added all the time gamers can keep there races interesting and now with GT Academy there are real prizes at stake for the best racers. Also once you complete A Class the online filters it so you only race others who have completed A Class, meaning you won't race people who play it 'like a destruction derby race'. While this isn't a faught of the game itself as all racers have this problem a simalar system in Ferrari Challenge will be appriciated. Closing Comments Overall it can be said that yes some of the claims System 3 were stating were more hyping the game rather than truth, however in alot of cases they were right to shout, the Ai in Ferrari Challenge is some of the best seen in a racer, you can really feel the passion they have for this game when playing it. System 3 does have every right to hold their heads high because Ferrari Challenge is up there with the likes of Gran Turismo 5: Prologue and both games should be considered by any serious racing fan.
