Final Fantasy VII the Remake!

It would make a good subtitle no? The Remake! Or It's Final Again! Anywho enough of my rambling!

So with the the recent news of even more speculation on the possibility of a remake I got myself thinking. If they did remake the game would I fork out the 60 bucks for it? Maybe it would be cheaper than that but I think not. Reason: The Final Fantasy remakes on GBA and DS sell for as much or more than other new titles for the system.

Is it worth it to me to buy the same game that I still own again? I don't think so. They would have to really do something special with it, besides a graphical update. I'm sure that they would add some extra content but it would be simply token content like in the GBA remakes. Not a title seller. On that note I did purchase a copy of FF5 and FF6 for my GBA, but my reasons were that I wanted a great game that I could play on the go. So maybe I would buy it again if it was PSP or something, but I really don't think so if it's on the PS3.

How about you all? What are your opinions? Speculations of extra content? Let the commentary begin!

Despite the fact that its a remake, its still a completely new game.

The story may stay the same, and some of the gameplay may remain, but it will still be completely rebuilt, I don't see why they wouldn't charge full price?

And so did you Scather. Comparatively, this could be Epic for Square Enix. I'll be one of those people waiting in line to get FFVII, The Remake. Seeing how many people fall for FFVII (putting into consideration on how overrated it's become) I believe this is a great move for them if they do it.

The Final Fantasy franchise is popular, but no game has been more popular than VII.... I doubt they would do remakes for VIII or IX, but I'd buy them if they did all the same haahha

Well they kinda have remade all of 1-6 i believe so the next would be 7. but they remade them for other systems like psp or nintendo ds.

FF 1 and 2 are on GBA
ff3 is on nintendo ds
and i think they have mad 4,5, and 6 for either the ds or psp

Not true! There are actually a couple of options for that. You could get Final Fantasy Origins(1 and 2), Final Fantasy Chronicles(FF4 and Chrono Triger, also an awesome game), and Final Fantasy Anthology(FF5 and FF6) for the Playstation. All of them would be backwards compatible for PS2 and maybe even the PS3. Or you could get FF4-6 on Game Boy Advance. All are awesome remakes and fun to play. Six is my Favorite.

On topic though, I would love them to see something new in ways of gameplay and different events in the game, I really can't see it happening. If any of the other remakes are an indication it would be almost completely identical. Then again as popular as this game is, I can see it happening.

Too true, although it would be nice if the revamp the turn base battle system, make it look more like 12. If they ever make the game that is. And maybe correct some of the errors on some scenes like Aerith's dead...what with all the "she's facing the wall of the altar, then facing the stairs, Sephy without glove, then with gloves" thing.

Buying a RPG that has been remade, that you've already played is even stupider.

How about they stop focusing on Final Fantasy and look at their abandoned series? (Chrono series, Parasite Eve, etc. etc.) It'd be nice, since FF is all square has been focusing on for the past, (I don't care to remember) years.

They're just focusing on what makes them money. They've already said they won't do another Chrono game. Not since the second one basically flopped. But I've never played all of the Parasite eve series(well two games but meh) I've only played a little and got lost(in the first area). so I wouldn't know how good they really are. I think that's the ONLY game I've failed at ><

No doubt. Those two series are far one of my favourite RPGs. I'd love to see another Parasite Eve, not a remake just new installment.

Although, to remake Chrono Trigger. Or make another Chrono game would be totally awesome =)
