Some of us here have some very interesting users names that some people don't know where they come from, or what the hell they mean, this thread will solve that problem.
So masses, what's with your user name?
When I originally went to FFE, I was thinking of good words to go with FF, after a few minutes I came up with FF Tycoon, and it just stuck with me.
The word Tycoon (Taikun) originates from Japan, meaning 'Great Lord.'

I just made up my nickname for online use. I enjoy creating characters and writing, so I suppose that I have developed an ability or skill for creating names.
Lady Rinoa

Rinoa, well as you all know, she’s from FFVIIII. Since it’s my fave FF game, and she’s my fave female character there of course I used that. However, I see her personality as a younger version of myself so Lady Rinoa was more fitting. Like her being enhanced to a higher version of herself I suppose. That’s how I feel about it.
Back in the old days of FFE, when it started I was just Rinoa ~the Nice Sorceress~, and as the forum grew and went through stages as time passed by, so did I, and thus Lady Rinoa was established as such and stayed that way; a merged Rinoa….a remake if you know what I mean ;)

There was already someone called Ashley when I registered on the forums.
NightCrawler

NightCrawler from the Marvel Comics X-men. I don't really like the character as much as I like the ability. I've always dreamed about having the ability to teleport and it just stuck with me.
Part of it was a realization as well I guess. I was originally known as "LuvuYuna" And one day I woke up, looked at my name and went....that is the gayest name since gay came to gaytown. So I changed it.
EDIT: Thanks for correcting Dark Messenger.
Ye caught me. I was really looking into Birth By Sleep when I registered here at PSBeyond, and I'm also a bit of a Roxas fan, and Ven looks like Roxas, so... :P
But yeah, my name originates from Ven, who is going to be in Birth By Sleep. 8D

NightCrawler from the DC-Comics X-men. I don't really like the character as much as I like the ability. I've always dreamed about having the ability to teleport and it just stuck with me.
X-men is Marvel not DC...thought I'd throw that out there.
The Dark Messenger...
Well believe it or not there is no real origin to this name, something I used and it stuck like glue. I later saw that it was also a track used to fight Kuja on FFIX.

Akira Avelon
02-21-2008, 09:56 PM
Mine has two parts to it.
Akira Is from the two very first Anime pieces I had ever seen. The movie Akira and the creator of the Dragon Ball Series, Akira Toriyama. As well as, an old friend from elementary school that was an exchange student. Her first name was Akira and I loved how the name rolled off the tongue. I can't remember her last name though.... I was like in.. Grade 2? (can't remember fully)
Avelon is actually quite simple. I took it from the main character from Cardcaptors, Sakura Avelon. It was a very early name I used... That and I also used to go by Kali Darkwanderer on a few sites for a short time.. but I really can't remember where that name came from.
Scather
02-21-2008, 11:57 PM
I was really just looking for originality. I think it worked as I have never seen someone else use the name. It comes from the word scathe, which means to burn or destroy something. Hence the Burner or destroyer!
Faded Hero
02-22-2008, 01:06 AM
Faded Hero - No clear idea really. When I came back to FFE after it went down there were a few kids who called me thier "hero" when I was a moderator/admin. Since i no longer was i just picked a hero who wasn't so glorious or a shadow of his former glory, hence faded.

I can clearly understand why they called you a hero.

I'm lame and decided to go by my name rather than some fake internet alias?
Ransom
02-22-2008, 04:01 PM
I was in need of a cool-sounding username for online Worms2 (Yes, I am ye olde) and couldn't think of one at all, so I just opened up the dictionary, flicked through the pages randomly and blindly placed my finger on the page. It landed on "ransom", so I use thay name to this day.
Dionysous
03-05-2008, 11:49 PM
Well as I've described a million times:
Dionysous is the greek god of wine... Patron god of the theatre... The god of pleasure.
I love the theatre, and I love mythology, and literature, and that's that! I've been using this handle since shortly before I first joined FFE for the first time ...like 10 years ago or something stupid like that... (about a month after it first started)... Made the name firstly for IRC chatting, which I stopped doing a LONG time ago as well...
The name has stuck, and many people still refer to me as "Dion"

Mine is from the Final Fantasy VIII song - Liberi Fatali. It comes from the lyrics - Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec Yeah, so now you know!

Funny story actually. I remember having some lamo user name a long time ago, can't even remember what it was. And one day while playing FF9 I figured it was time to get a new nick name. And then somewhere in there Zidane calls Steiner Sir Rustalot and Rusty. And I thought, heck. Why the hell not ^^ And I've stuck by it since =)
