Here's some news I just read:
"Tokyo-headquartered developer and publisher Square Enix is building a new studio in Los Angeles (El Segundo) that is working on an action-oriented game based for an original IP.
According to the career section of the Final Fantasy company's U.S. site, it is seeking to fill several positions for the new location, including the roles of Xbox 360 software engineer, product manager, 3D artist, and more.
The studio's job listings advertised on other sites say that it is looking to "to lay the foundation for a solid development team," calling for software engineer applicants with Xbox 360 and Wii development experience."
I would love to work for Square but I don't like in California and I don't know nothing about game development. The job sounds like it would be fun though, would you guys work for Square if you had the chance?

No, just plain and simple no. I'd never work for a game company period because I'd feel like my entire life is being wasted for bullshit. I'm gonna get a job that actually will benefit the human race.
lol 360 and Wii only, and they claim "they have no console preferences".
I wish there was a Network Developer job hehe

Well for one you can't just 'get' a job for a video game company unless you have atleast 5 years experience in the fields along with the proper education and skills. I've looked into it simply because I'm considering applying for a paid coop at the EA Games HQ in Vancouver.
Secondly, Larsa not ever job benefits the human race. Some people would rather work for the passions instead of flipping burgers at McDonalds which has no benefit for humanity either.
Hell, unless you're going into sciences you're not going to do much good for humanity as a whole assuming you're special enough to make a difference.

Entertainment is a way to benefit the human race, especial storylines that give some type of morale. Hell, sometimes games like GTA can prevent school shootings.
Would be great except I couldn't compete with the thousands of others whom by now have most likely gotten wind of this.

Plus you live in Michigan Tom, and who wants to leave Michigan right? :monster:
Yeah, because you know, Michigan is just sooo great. You couldn't trade your soul for a job, home prices are falling like a spit wad off of the Empire State building, the only good thing we have here to keep us sane are the Red Wings. XD
...No, seriously though, the Red Wings are the only solace I have here...

Agreed, do like to watch the Pistons and cheer for the Lions (always fun to cheer for the underdogs). And yea Michigan is in a horrible economic state. I'm encouraged to stay in college every time I hear anything Michigan/economy related.
