Here's what I dug up:

Closed beta (15,000 Users): April 2007
General beta testing: Late November/December 2007
Projected global release date: Spring 2008So, as it says, Home BETA should be soon. And the release date you have is most likely right. Why? Well, they just gotta tweak it at that point as it will be free for all to use (just payable upgrades to it)

In my personal opinion I think home will be delayed again, the amount of work that can be carried out on Home is massive, there is currently a section of home that is sealed off for SCE To carry out work. It looks like it could be some kind of Shopping Mall ?

I hope the open beta is soon anyway !

Possibly. I'm actually excited about this feature (it is one of the few software for the PS3 that display the processor power at its finest) as it gives something like second life, but you know, without the suckness of it. With this and the PS3 getting great games... it's being pushed up my priority list :)

they have functions where you and online friends could watch movies together I think, if true I'll have to get one soon so I can annoy Dave all the way from Florida while watching a blu ray copy of something. :monster:

You can live stream video in your personal home, if you have say a sony TV in your home, pull up a sofa and relax, or you could just visit the cinema ?

I really can't wait for home, every new video I watch I want it even more, the customisation looks incredible. So can you play music in your house and let people listen to it too? That would be pretty awesome :D

It seems that when Playstation Home eventually launches in the spring of 08, we can expect Naughty Dog's latest PS3 release, Uncharted, to fully utilise the service in some shape or form. This could mean that owners of the game, of which that should be everyone as it is superb, could be seeing a trophy cabinet with the games achievement sitting next to some cool wallpaper, desktop themes or home cinema movies.

The article:

Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells confirmed: "We aren't planning any downloadable content for Uncharted," blowing away all hopes for an extra dungeon or two to explore.

He did say, however, that his team is planning to integrate the game with Sony's upcoming Home service - an online homespace application. "We are planning to take advantage of whatever kind of integration into Home is possible," he told D-Pad magazine, not hinting at any specific features in particular.

One of the main aspects I'm excited about is the reward system and what it could possibly bring.

Let's say you beat the hardest difficulty of DMC4? Well, you might be rewarded a code to redeem in Home that'll give you an overcoat to wear that looks like Dante's.

Overall, I'd say it's the customization of the players themselves that'll make Home an interesting experience to me. =p

Absolutely, in my experience with MMORPGs, nothing kicks more ass then getting a really rare item that shows you "beat this insanely hard monster" or whatever, far more valuable than money.

Which is similar to comparing getting points from Xbox Live, to getting rare and special acccessories / furniture / whatevers in Home :) I think it will be really rewarding.

And I'm definitely spending the extra dough to make an awesome apartment we can use as a PS Beyond hangout haha.

Wasn't it meant to come out in March?

Einhander

That's the rumored date. No one really knows for sure and we probably won't hear anything about it until GDC comes around in February.

Am I the only one thinking this will be like advanced sims? =p

Einhander

lol Yeah. It's constantly compared to "The Sims" and "Second Life", but I have a good feeling about Home. Since it'll be easily accessible for anyone with a PS3, I'm sure it'll take off and possibly turn into a 3D community of the likes of which we've never seen.

Tuffy

Its been reported for April sometime ?

Not sure, but after the lastest vids on youtube, its looking really good!

Much more to do.

Also, i was correct with my 1st post, it was a shopping mall that was closed, its now open and contains little shops like "Threads" were you can dress your Home dute or dudette !!!

To me this seems like a money drain. Like hell if im paying money to dress up my "sim".

But to make your sim to look different than anyone else you need to buy clothes or buy furniture :O

Larsa

Wait, you have to buy ALL of your furniture, with your own real-life wallet?

Ransom
03-11-2008, 07:39 PM
No. Most of the items are free. You only have to pay for high-end or special items.

Larsa
03-11-2008, 09:02 PM
Does anyone know by any chance how much money you have in the beginning or if you can earn money in the game?

Ransom

It works with real money, not virtual money. So you just have to top up your PSN wallet.

Tuffy
03-12-2008, 06:36 AM
You can also trade items with other users too. Habbo Hotel Like.

Ya, I'm not going to use my money on that. I don't even have a decent paying job. :( And I highly doubt that there will be that many people, willing to spend money on a virtual couch.

Just look at Habbo Hotel and how much they make. Its all 100% profit for Sony.

Hi Guys,

You guys already know what Playstation Home consists of, But what really is confusing people is the "Release date" to Sony's upcoming Playstation Network Phenomenon.

Playstation Home was originally scheduled for autumn 2007, however many glitches and missing features delayed this.

A Dude called Phil Harrison (Ex Sony Computer Entertainment Promotions Manager) said to every PS3 owner that we "will get our hands on Home in 2007"

Obviously not.

Currently, Playstation Home is in a "Closed Beta" stage - Around 1,500 - 2000 User's

- This term "beta" has migrated from computer and software development, and is usually used as "beta site." It means test site or test version. Beta is not the final version of a product or website, but it's close enough to show in public and work the bugs out.

Playstation are soon to switch Home into a "Open Beta" stage

- Same as Closed stage but with a higher number of users. Around 150,000 - 200,000 User's

Once this stage has been out for sometime and Sony iron out the small glitches, Playstation Home can roll-out officially around the world.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sony have been pretty quiet on giving info on Home, the only official website they have set up is this

http://www.homebetatrial.com/

And that has not been updated since April 2007

Rumours have it that the "Open Beta" will launch in April. Although the only Official word we have is "Spring 2008"

But like last year that's subject to change and most likely will.

For records sake, i don't see Home officially opening to everybody until late this year.

If your lucky enough to spot the Open Beta as soon as its announced, ill let you guys know how to register your spot,
but like i said, with a high interest that Home has, and only 200k rumoured slots, not everybody will get in.

Home has had a recent update, details can be found in my article online here :

But would it really take an entire year to sort out all of the bugs and put out the Open Home Beta?
