What? Oh, yeah! Well, since we'll be out of time for Christmas, aka, we dont wanan drag presents with us and risk losing some...), tonight was Christmas. What did I get?

Wacom Intuos 3 4x6 Tablet
HP Printer/Scanner
Wii Zapper
Mario Galaxy (lawl, already had it... So exchanging :P )
Balls of Fury
Simpson's Movie

The first two were on my list, the others are more like bonuses. But yeah, love the tablet! Just gotta learn how to use it! (and yes, it is much different than Traditional drawing) and the scanner/printer/fax/slave will allow me to share my concept drawings! Wee!

So, I'm happy. In fact, here are two drawings to show off my nub digital skills! 1st one was, well, my first time. second one was... yeah you guessed it, my second time. So, I'm learning and getting more friendly with it! Just gotta learn the tricks and trade of digital media. The 1st one was done in Photoshop while the 2nd was in Paint (for the damn PS bugged on me). 1st was a random girl, 2nd was an attempt at a Draenei (while i do better on traditional on both sketches :P )

Enjoy my fairly decent sketches of learning tableting + digital art!

Thank you! I'd go on MSN, but gotta go to bed now. However, before I do, here is another sketch I made. Yes, they aren't crazy, but all just learning tactics fo the Wacom tablet.

You fail, draw a troll. Draeneis are ftl. Cheap knockoff of Davy Jones if you ask me, because we all know Pirates of the Caribbean came before Warcraft, amirite? :monster:

Congrats on the early gifts, hope you enjoy them. :P

I love my tablet. I got one on loan from the school.

My Step Dad and Mom haven't decided whether or not they're going to let me open my presents tomorrow night or when I get back home on the 3rd. I'm almost hoping for tomorrow. I want my art supplies, now.

I get my insurance paid for for this month.

Other than that, the girlfriend has mentioned presents, so I think that's about it for me.

Kudos on the haul, though, Derek. I don't exactly know what a tablet does, but Ashley's mentioned to me repeatedly how useful they are, so I'll say congratulations and leave it there.

Wacoms are great stuff, congrats on getting one. You'll find yourself using it quite a bit. :)

That's the one I received. Perfect size, wouldn't want bigger. A tablet is an attachment to your PC (or MAC) that basically gives you the power of pen point technology, aka you use a pen as a mouse. This helps in drawing and touch ups that is very difficult (to nearly impossible) with a mouse. I still have my mouse and use it, but for drawing and other reasons, I have my tablet pen :)

They are definitely great stuff! I love it, and my scanner and well, everything! :O And yes, I use it quite a lot ;)

I had my Christmas today too. Here's the gifties I got:

A big Lambswool rug for my room to get rid of the echo.
Sienfeld Season 9
A puzzel ball.

I really like the lambswool rug, it was made in New Zealand and I finnaly don't have that echo in here anymore.

Can someone explain what's so good about these "Wacom" ones?

Is it a specific brand?

Because I've got a Graphics tablet and it's fine for me, I don't think I'd need a better one

Wacom is the largest tablet producer in the world, and is generally considered industry standard. Their products are generally higher build quality and have a bit more features than others. I doubt you'd need to upgrade at any point if what you have works for you.

I wish I had the cash to buy one. I'd just might start drawing online instead of trying to do so with a mouse.

I'm back in action and Wacom is fun! I tend to only use it to draw (which is fine, since I spent good dollar on a mouse I love) as it takes a little more effort for regular things I do with my mouse. I might only use the tablet in the future, who knows, but for now my mouse is here to stay for general computer use.

Man Christmas dinner was something. Gotta love parents that can't... well.. parent their children! :monster:
All 'n all, it was fun and I hope all of you had fun with whatever happened for the holidays. Good to be back, though.

Well, I am a tablet noob, so I didn't know what is best to buy. Just saw Wacom being the popular and recommended (being used in the industry) so I went ahead and got it, 4x6.
