Default New Article Submission Guidelines

Just one thing really. The articles need to be more visible on search engines, so I would ask everyone with submission privileges to repeat the title of the game as much as possible without it becoming unreadable. Also it needs to be bolded and italicized. This needs to be done to all the words in the game title, so in a sentence "Metal Gear Solid 4 is the latest chapter of the Metal Gear saga", Metal Gear needs to be italicized as well. Also please use heading tags where applicable

Also, anyone with editing privileges, if you have the time, please edit the current articles to comply with this.

I've started optimizing Darren's MGS4 review, so use it as a visual aid when in doubt

Notice the "other articles" links at the bottom. This goes a long way to help visibility, but it's a bit tedious to manually add them to every article. Is there any html gurus around who know how to put this into the article template?

As usual, Im open minded to any feedback and suggestions

Also, unfortunately the article template is bugged at this time, so I would ask all the authors to manually html format the articles for the time being, here's a brief guide.

<p></p> - Put every paragraph between these

<br> - Similar to the enter key. Either ends a line of text, or makes a blank line

<hx></hx> - Anything between these will be a heading. replace x with 1-4. 1 is the biggest, 4 is the smallest

<b></b> - Anything between those will be bold

<i></i> - Anything between those will be italic

<img src="url"> - replace url with the adress of the image(http://www.domain.com/pic1.jpg) to insert a picture. Best to upload images separately from the Media section in the admin panel and link from there.

<img src="url" alt="text"> - Adds an alt tag to your image. An alt tag is the tooltip that pops up when you hover your cursor over an image

<a href="url"> text </a> - to post links. Replace url with the adress you want to link to.

hmm, I think it's <br /> for line breaks.

and <img src="url" alt="text" /> for alt attributes.

I mean, if we really want to SEO this thing, then every tag needs an end, some tags are self ending, like <br /> and <img />.

heading tags are definitely not recommended for anything that's not a header. Search engine spiders reads websites in sort of an outline form, and multiple heading tags will only confuse it.

Avoid spamming "keywords," since the spiders will consider the site spam, and lower its rating. Instead, try to broadcast the site in other relevant places like game forums. Relevant incoming links are more effective than spamming keywords.

Also please don't forget to Digg your own articles, or any articles that haven't been Dugg yet!!!
