I admit that that I was skeptical about Silent Hill V at first when they announced it, but I read recently a bit more about it in a magazine and I am actually intrigued now. I didn’t think that it would be good anymore since Silent Hill 4 strayed from the story and went into a different direction but I think that it has potential for revival.
It seems that the main character (even though being an army veteran), is actually connected to Mary Sheppard from Silent Hill 2. It’s Mary’s brother ![]() That alone entices me entirely to give it a chance because Konami brought back memories of SH2; especially because Silent Hill 2 was my favorite of the series. Now I am quite excited to find out more about it and see how the new story unfolds.

I'm going to assume you're talking about Mary Shepherd. Maria was the entity that Silent Hill created in order to punish James, meaning she never really existed as her own being.
I'm totally skeptical about this game and I refuse to buy one of the next gen consoles let alone the game until I hear some raving reviews. Team Silent backed out and handed the SH franchise to an American company. No kidding they decided to make an Army Veteran. |

It could go either way. Yeah the original company isn't making the game but that means the new company could add some new originality to the story and new ideas for the game. Or fuck it up horribly and like Tomb Raider, be completely fucked over past the point of any recovery. It could go either way at this point and all we really have to go off of is the trailer and some screen shots.

Ya, that’s what I’m waiting for as well, for some trailers and tunes. I hope the music is good too cuz the previous installments had awesome music, especially SH2. The reason why I’m so intrigued by new SH is because is connected to part 2 and I have a feeling that they gonna twist the story nicely. Besides, so far the series has been entertaining enough and I’ll give it a shot xD
*mumbles* I better get a PS3 by the time it comes out* ![]() I know that; it was late last nite when I posted and had a good buzz going, hehe.

I guarantee that this installment will be as superb as always. Akira Yamaoka is the only person left from Team Silent that has moved onto this project. The new company(not sure who it is?) Apparently is letting Akira overview everything, give input and help keep to the interests of the fans.
The only reason I have a little hope that SH5 may do well is because Akira has remained to help the franchise. |

Well I found more juicy info about Silent Hill V and I am so excited about it. Here’s a new clip I found at gametrailers and thought it was fascinating for us Silent hill lovers.
It’s an interview of Akira Yamoka talking about the game and the music. Enjoy http://www.gametrailers.com/player/26762.html

I saw this a couple months back. I still have my doubts about the game. By the looks of it the new American team are trying to make the game similar to the movie. But who knows. I'll still pick it up for the 360.

Hmm, I don’t know about that. The only thing I see similar to the movie was the way the walls peel off and that sound effect as the nightmare worlds collide with reality; and that was just improving the CG effects because we already seen it on the actual games.
What I see similar is the music, is kinda like SH2 as well as the atmosphere which is why it's so attracting to me. Konami still hasn’t released a date yet and I’m sooo anxious already ![]()

I liked SH4 and a few of the others. 5 looks creepy from some of the shots/videos but I think I'll wait until some reviews come out first.
I'm still deciding if I should by Silent Hills Orgins for the PSP

SH 4 is the only one I didn’t like. It stirred away from the whole SH is about, but I guess that’s what Konami wanted to do and experiment to see how it would work. Not too well I suppose since the new one is just like its predecessors.
Get it!! I wish I could, but I don't have a PSP ![]()

When you get a PS3, you should get a PSP as well. There's a lot you can do with the PSP & the PS3.

Origins is okay. Pretty fun first playthrough. In fact, it's pretty atmospheric and deserves kudos for perfecting the SH experience for the handheld.
It's just the plot that's a little contrived. I mean, the main character actually has no reason to be there. It's a silly "fill in the gaps" kind of game that isn't deep or clever enough for a round of applause. If you find it cheap, get it, especially if you like all SH's even with their flaws. It tries to be like 2, but doesn't quite master it. 3/5?...Hmm, just, if you really care then yes but don't get your hopes up! lol |

I read the plot yesterday and I like the story this time.
Solider coming home from war and his family is gone. I just hope that it's possible to "fight like a soldier" in the game. Use pistols better, use machine guns and be more tactical to avoid the creatures around.
