360 outselling PS3 by 18% in UK

Chart-Track, the leading UK gaming chart website, today announced that since the Grand Theft Auto IV launch on April 29th, the X360 sales are 18% ahead of the PS3 in the UK.

Furthermore, X360's massive headstart into the console race also explained why 57 per cent of the total sales of Grand Theft Auto IV are on 360, compared to 43 per cent on PS3, which is not a terrible figure for Sony, considering how late the console was to hit UK shores. Of the 1.3 million copies sold to date in the UK, 570,000 of those are on Playstation 3, in comparison to the 180,000 more sold on Xbox 360.

However, it isn't all bad news for Sony. Chart-Track also confirmed that since the start of 2008, UK PlayStation 3 sales are roughly 10 per cent higher than X360 sales. This is a massive lead, even after the launch of Grand Theft Auto IV.

Keep checking back for more news regarding the state of the console war, and where Sony stands in the battle for total market domination.
