Famitsu interview with Nomura - FFXIII info included
As part of Famitsu's 1000th issue celebration, Square Enix artist, Tetsuya Nomrua has been asked to draw the cover of the issue. Nomura is the first game creator to draw Famitsu's cover artwork for the magazine. In the 1000th issue, he has also been interviewed, which sheds a little light on past projects and his art preferences, as well as some information about the characters of Final Fantasy XIII.
-While designing FFVII's Cloud, the development Team was absolutely baffled with the obstacle of how spikey to make Cloud's noggin. We can say thanks for leaving it how they did, now can't we? Any more spikes and he'd poke everyone's eyes out!
-Since people are used to seeing the uber hot CG creations of characters, he prefers not to be shown too often and thinks that the illustrations done by Amano are what people like to see.
-Nomura also goes further to say that he usually just draws with a mechanical pencil, scans the drawing, and digitally colours his artwork.
-He apparently buys games based on reviews by Famitsu. I guess that's kinda smart, but when you're rich, you'd think that you wouldn't have to be picky about buying crappy games. Oh well, whatever floats your boat, they say.
That was a nice list of fun facts, wasn't it? Anywho, moving onto the character information regardning Lightning and the Prince that some of the masses are already calling by "Storm."
Lightning will have muscular legs, and she isn't exactly a sweet rose. She'll apparently have plenty of thorns. She's pretty strict to herself and others around her, and she dislikes slackers. FFXIII's scenario writer wanted her to be more muscular and macho kind of weightlifting chick, but Nomura stated that he didn't think people would be so fond of her as a character if she was designed that way.
The Prince's clothing is going to be redesigned. He's also unlike Cloud or Squall, as some people are expecting. Nomura seems to think everyone's impression on him will change when they hear him speak, which is a strong, yet sparse piece of information. He says that many people may not like him. His name will also be related to weather just as Lightning's name is. Though people are already calling him Storm. Nomura says that he's gotten bored with his tradition of naming characters.
The next time Final Fantasy XIII info is released, Nomura says that the Prince's name will be revealed.
