February 19th 2010 - Square Enix promised that Final Fantasy XIII will be different from its predecessors. Namely, it's going to be much more linear, with much less exploration, as if releasing it for the Xbox360 didn't wind everyone up enough. As gaming history has shown, it's very hard to make a big change to a franchise without the fans going "Rabblerabblerabble". Isn't that right Bethesda?
According to Square's Motomu Toriyama, the gameplay in Final Fantasy XIII will be split between 2 worlds....

Final Fantasy producer Yoshinori Kitase and and director Motomu Toriyama has confirmed there will be no Final Fantasy XIII DLC available. Here is what they had to say:
"Regarding the DLC content, we feel that the final product is 100% enjoyable. It's the complete package. So we're not planning any DLC at this time."
It was rumored that there was enough content cut from the original game to create a whole other game....

Not long now until you will be able to play one of the most anticipated games of the last decade. Square Enix revealed the release date to it's latest Final Fantasy title last month in a special reveal trailer that kept fans across the globe waiting in anticipation for the news they had been expecting for some time. The newest trailer for the epic FFXIII just went live and is ready to melt your eyeballs from your skull. Included in the just less than 3 minute trailer are a few extended gameplay sequences which depict a mix of action and menu driven battles. This eagerly anticipated JRPG from Square Enix is showing a lot of potential and will hopefully prove that the beloved RPG developer still has the ability to crank out a phenomenal game after a few critically so-so outings.

The Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII trailers that were shown at the private Square Enix DKS3173 event have now been released on the Re: Final Fantasy XIII DVD. Someone has ripped these from the DVD and uploaded them to the internet (see the videos by clicking "Read More").
The Final Fantasy XIII trailer shows a mixture of trailers we have seen before and a little bit of in-engine footage at the end, as well as confirming a 2009 release date for Japan at the very least....

Famitsu PlayStation 3’s upcoming issue is dedicated to Square Enix’s recent DKE3713 event, and along with 38 pages of text and images, it reveals something very exciting about the Final Fantasy XIII demo.
On a PS3 disc, not a Blu-ray (meaning it’s likely to be region-free), the demo will be longer than the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children movie. To put that into perspective, the movie is over 90 minutes in length, so this demo will be huge! In case you were wondering, we do know what part of the game the demo takes place in; the opening....

A forum member over at FinalFantasy-XIII.net has managed to translate the recent Shonen Jump scans of Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII.
On the Final Fantasy XIII page, the characters are being pursued by the soldiers Lightning is seen fighting in the trailer. The landscape they are overlooking is described as a frozen lake which froze the second that the large, mysterious object in the picture landed in it....

A member of FinalFantasy-XIII.net forums has managed to get hold of scans from the latest issue of Shonen Jump, which covers the latest Final Fantasy XIII, Versus, and Agito trailers shown at Square Enix's DKS3713 event. New screenshots from all three games are shown, including possible gameplay images from Final Fantasy Agito XIII which is now a PSP title. Sadly it's too hard to tell from the resolution of the scans if the Final Fantasy XIII & Versus images are real-time or pre-rendered CG, but Famitsu are scheduled to cover FFXIII at DKS3713 and will most likely have the same images as well as some new ones so hopefully someone will be able to scan those in higher quality.
