GC ’08: PlayStation Portable-3000 Announced

The PlayStation Portable-3000 has been announced after months of rumours and speculation. Notably, the screen has been enhanced to increase the intensity and numbers of colours it can display, resulting in a crisper picture. Another major new feature is a built-in microphone, useful for using Skype and Go!Messenger wherever you’ve got access to a wireless network.

Otherwise it’s as light as the Slim & Lite – which will be available for €169 for a limited period – and looks visually the same with the exception of slightly smoother edges, bowls behind the face buttons and a PlayStation logo replacing the Home button. The PSP-3000 goes on sale 15 October in Europe, at €199.
