It's over nine thousand

Play TV, Sony's freeview service for the PlayStation 3 allows you to watch and record TV even whilst playing games.

Sony has recently told GamesIndustry.biz that the service has had over 9,000 preorders in the UK alone, with 85,000 units being shipped to UK retailers. Remember, this fantastic positive response is currently only for the UK, the rest of Europe will have to wait until December to get their fix.

Unfortunately there are currently no plans to release the service in the US. However, if the service is successful in Europe, we may see Play TV move accross to the states, don't hold your breath though.

Mortim: I tried the demo and was really impressed, some nifty features that put even Sky to shame.

Tommy: Might pick this up when I get my roof aerial fixed.
