When you wake up tomorrow you will be able to download the latest Firmware update for the PS3, that will ultimately enhance the PS3's Blu-Ray movie playback, and add that anticipated AVI support that owners have been requesting since April.

Firmware version 2.10 will add 'Profile 1.1' Blu-Ray playback, which is the technical name for a new standard of Blu-Ray films that support new features such as picture-in-picture playback.

Also included amongst the system refreshments is DivX support, that will aid any user of the PSN and streaming video playback, along with VC-1 (wmv) video support, so you can finally watch all those perfectly legal videos on your PC through PS3.

Sony's also adding an option to change your voice online. Although a similiar feature was present and then abolished on 360 Live services, the PSN is soon to experience the same pleasure.

There is still no sign of a fully incorporated, in-game XMB within the update, but Sony does promise several upcoming updates to accomodate this, along with further PSP support.
