Metal Gear Solid 4 product details

An official PlayStation blog post by Brandon Laurino of Konami Online has revealed some information about what American gamers can expect to be able to pick up on June 12 (assuming they’ve slapped a pre-order down, that is!), detailing the Limited Editions, Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 bundle and more besides.

First things first is the Metal Gear Saga Volume 2 DVD which comes free with pre-orders and contains a Metal Gear Online beta voucher (to redeem for April 17 to May 5, lasting April 21 to May 5). Stocks for this are limited, and we must “do a bit of ‘legwork’ to secure a copy”, so we’d recommend rushing to the stores as soon as possible! As for the DVD itself, it contains exclusive content focusing on the history of the different Snakes (Naked Snake, Liquid Snake, Solidus Snake and Solid Snake) along with all the MGS 4 trailers to date and an MGS 4 prologue video.



Secondly, the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots Standard Edition. Below is the final box art for the game, with the box obviously holding a copy of MGS 4 and the Metal Gear Solid Online Starter Pack, the online component of the game. Exclusive to GameStop for consumers buying the Standard Edition is an MGS 4 art book while supplies last. The game will come at $59.99.



Next up is the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots Limited Edition. The box art has finally been revealed (see below) and this will contain everything the Standard Edition has, along with a “collectible box with exclusive artwork by famed Kojima Productions illustrator Yoji Shinkawa”, a Blu-ray disc holding two brand new Metal Gear Solid making of-style documentaries, and the MGS 4 soundtrack. This is going to set you back $84.99 at the RRP, and we recommend making a purchase as soon as you can, as this will go down as one of the all-time best limited edition videogames.

We revealed the box for the 80GB bundle the other day, but we didn’t expect a Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots Limited Edition PlayStation 3 Hardware Bundle (phew!) as well! Apparently, the box has to be kept under wraps but the console itself can be shown… in short, it’s an 80GB unit in the gunmetal grey colour, including a DualShock 3 controller. Enjoy!
