Netflix Drives Another Nail Into HD-DVD's Coffin

In a recent public announcement, Netflix, popular online movie rental service, has announced that it will no longer be supporting the HD-DVD format. It will be transferring its High Definition services exclusively to support Sony's Blu-ray format. In the past few months Blu-ray has been gaining massive support from major publishing companies such as Disney and MGM, effectively cutting HD-DVD's supporters to a small and insignificant number.

Along with Blockbuster's exclusive support for Blu-ray it would seem that it is nigh on impossible now to rent HD-DVD discs anywhere, and the Sony is about to win the war. Good news for PS3 owners and Blu-ray player owners, but a sad day to own a HD-DVD unit.
