New expansion announced for Metal Gear Online

The Gene Expansion for Metal Gear Online has been announced and will feature a slew of new features. Altogether, the expansion adds 3 new maps, 2 new characters, a new game play mode, and the ability to create female characters. The new maps range in playing style, from the in your face Underground Waterway to the barren South American power station. Meryl and Johnny are added to the roster of playable character, with their own unique skills like Snake. Finally, a new survival game play mode is present, which allows you to earn reward points to upgrade your character.

Konami ensured us that MGO would be around for a while, and if they keep adding new content like this, it looks like they will live up to their promise. The Gene Expansion will be released on the July 17 for $17.
