PS3 Price Drop Not Likely in '08

In a recent interview with Reuters, Scott Steinberg, SCEA's Vice President of Product marketing stated that a price drop for the Playstation 3 in 2008 is unlikely. He cites the fact that the system is still selling quite well at its current price point and so he sees no reason to drop the price. He also cites that with many blockbuster titles scheduled for release this year he doesn't see that momentum that it is having slowing down either. This means that the Playstation 3 will continue to retail for at $399 for at least another 11 months.

It would seem the wait for those wanting a cheaper Playstation 3 just got longer and it's all those good games coming out that we've got to blame. Damn Metal Gear Solid 4!
