PS3 Sales Double in Japan

The latest Media Create data has suggested that sales of the Sony Playstation 3 have more than doubled between July 23 and July 29. The console sold a total of 28,829 units in this time period, a jump from under 12,000 units the previous week. Playstation Portable sales were also up for the same week, selling just over 35,000 unit. This after the week prior having a drop in sales to 32,894. Sony continues to have a lead ahead on Microsoft's Xbox 360, which has under 4,000 units sold in the same time period.

This continues the raise in sales Sony has experienced since the price of the console was lowered from $599 USD to $499 USD, which has heavily effected the North American market as well, boosting PS3 sales above Xbox 360 sales for the first time in more than 6 months.
