PS3 obliterates competition in Japan
After the phenomonal launch of MGS4 around the globe, sales of both Kojimas masterpeice and PlayStation 3 have sky rocketed in Japan. Taking top spot in the hardware charts for the first time this generation, Sony will be excitedly hopping up and down with the news.
In the week of June 9 to June 15, 75,311 PS3 were snapped up - a huge increase in sales over the previous week, in which the PS3 sold around 10,000 units.
MGS4 trounced the software chart with 465,000 sales, and Mario Kart Wii in second with a comparatively measly 38,000 sales, according to the Media Create figures here.
Can Sony hold on to the lead and secure another week at number one?
