PlayStation 3 Catching Up To Wii In Japanese Sales
Let’s face it, the Wii has been a commercial success from day one. Once more, it outsold the PlayStation 3 last month in Japan, but according to magazine publisher Enterbrain, things are changing. In June, the Wii outsold Sony’s box of tricks by 1.7 to 1, as opposed to the 6 to 1 lead it had in May.
According to the publisher, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots has helped push sales in the PS3’s direction (who’d have thought it?!), and despite the console catching up, it still needs to make a good performance to raise global sales. When March ended, Sony had sold around 12.85 million PS3 units since its launch, around half as many as the Wii.
As for the PSP, it outsold the DS with 274,131 and 195,714 units shifted respectively, in the five week period ending 29 June.
