PS3 Gets Discount Rockband Tracks

Microsoft recently released a statement saying that they were getting a discount on their tracks. Harmonix/MTV has now stated that PS3 owners will to get a slice of the pie as well. MTV stated that some songs can be up to 50% off. And with the recent Price changes on the PSN for Canadian consumers songs can be going for less then a dollar. Earlier today, third-party peripherals provider The Ant Commandos announced its range of wireless instruments that will be available this spring. These instruments will be completely compatible with Rock Band and Guitar Hero games on both the PS2 and PS3. First of all we have the Double Range Guitar. To say we were annoyed yesterday when the RRP of the European X360 version of Rock Band (£180) was announced is something of an understatement. We’ve waited six months longer than American gamers and will have to pay over double the price… we won’t vent our frustration here, but check out the forums if you want to catch a glimpse of anger. Somewhat good news has surfaced however, as online retailer Play has said it is selling the game for less than EA suggests, the Instrument Pack at £99.99 and the game itself for £49.99. It’s still way too expensive for us (weighing in at just shy of £150 if you want to actually play the game) but it’s good to see it’s not just consumers understanding the high price point just won’t cut it. ... Rock Band dated for UK, X360 exclusive release confirmed

Although most of you will be patiently waiting for the PS3 version of EA's upcoming rhythm action title Rock Band, it have confirmed this morning that the game is finally getting a UK release on May 23, but only on rival console X360 initially. The PS3 and Wii versions will be following in the summer, backing up theories that EA has been having trouble with the motion control of the Wii version and the high powered production costs of the PS3.... Free stuff! Now we’ve got your attention, free stuff! As a thank you of sorts to those who have bought Rock Band, Harmonix is bringing Stay Alive, Portal’s ending credits song, to the game for free on April 17. It would have been out sooner, but with the PlayStation Store being coloured in with Crayola to give it a new interface, it has to wait until after the process has been completed. Rock Band store opens for business

Available now for download is the newest addition to Harmonix's rock and roll simulator. While a large portion of this update is to improve overall game mechanics there is some extra happiness bundled into the package. With the newest update the game now has it's own music store for use. Now instead of having to access the Playstation store for downloadable songs, you can do it through the game itself. Not only that buy you will be able to preview all the songs before download, to help you make sure you really want the song. Along with this Harmonix's has reaffirmed the fact that entire albums will eventually be making their way to the game. This evidence is seen throughout the store's menus. ... Read More

Earache Thrash Pack coming to Rock Band

In keeping up with the popular trend, Harmonix is releasing a new track pack for Rock Band next Thursday. Titled the Earache Thrash Pack, if you buy it, you’ll be able to play the following songs in the game: Blinded By Fear – At The Gates Thrasher – Evile D.O.A. – The Haunted The track pack will be downloadable for $5.49, with single songs priced $1.99.
