Rumor: Future firmware to offer PS2 support?

According to German games website, Inplaystation.de, a firmware update set in October will allow 40gb ps3's to be able to play Playstation 2 games. The update will give the 40gb models full software emulation, allowing them to play all the games that currently only 80gb and 60gb model owners have the privilage of. Considering these models are no longer in existance, and PS2 software sales are still strong, this rumor could very well turn into reality, and maybe some news at next months e3 will shed some light onto the subject. This would no doubt be great news for people who missed out on classic PS2 games, or have a huge back catalouge they'd like to delve back into. Stay tuned.
