SOCOM: Confrontation public beta kicks off Sept. 1

The official SOCOM site announced that the beta of SOCOM: Confrontation will be made available to the public next week on September 1. The download side will be approximately 2 GB.

Developed by Slant Six instead of Zipper Interactive, Confrontation is a side game in the series, rather than a full out sequel to SOCOM 3. Confrontation returns the series to its tactical, squad-based roots. The latest iteration of SOCOM will be an online multiplayer only game, which is a huge leap in a different direction for the franchise. The full game will be available October 14, both on a Blu Ray disc and from the PSN store.
