TGS 08: Resistance 2 and Retribution to Work Together

The official US PlayStation Blog is reporting that Resistance 2 and its little brother on the PSP, Resistance: Retribution, will be able to link-up via a USB cable to provide a whole host of new content. By connecting the PSP to a PS3, players can choose an option in Resistance 2 to “infect” Retribution. The infection will last as long as the PSP is on and provides an alternate story for PSP users to play through. The infected version of the storyline will feature a new weapon, new abilities, such as the ability to heal over time and breath underwater to reach secret areas, and new Intel to find. If players are able to find all of the infected Intel, they will be rewarded with an unlocked weapon in Resistance 2.

The fun doesn’t stop there as the blog also introduces the “PSP Plus” mode. In this mode, you’ll be able to use a Dualshock 3 controller, complete with rumble support, to play through the game. It appears that the game can be displayed through the TV or on the PSP while using the Dualshock 3. PSP Plus will also turn the aim assistance off and amp up the difficulty to create a new gaming experience. Unfortunately, players will have to wait awhile to try out these innovative features as Resistance: Retribution is not likely to be released before 2009. Resistance 2 comes out November 4th.
