Updated: BBFC clears Grand Theft Auto IV
March 31, 2008 – Rockstar Games employees were no doubt relieved more than they expected to be. We have it on good authority that the champagne is in the ice bucket for April 29, but the British Board of Film Classification has given Grand Theft Auto IV the go ahead with certificate 18, a mean feat for Rockstar, the publisher that battled long to get Manhunt 2 on the shelves.
It was inevitable that if the game was passed it would get an 18, but that would be missing the point… GTA IV is officially being released on April 29! You already knew this, we’re sure, but it’s nice to know there will be no more delays over the game not being given a chance with consumers, something feared by everyone wanting to get their hands on the first next-gen GTA.
Update April 1 - Taking a look at the BBFC's extended report, we found out that the version of GTA IV it was sent contained over seven hours of cut-scenes. That's almost as long as the credits for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion!
