Scheduled to be released in March 2010, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is a first person shooter game developed by EA Digital Illusions CE for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows. A sequel to Battlefield: Bad Company, this game is expected to bring even more enjoyable experiences for gamers. As opposed to the previous titles in the franchise, which were rated "Teen", Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has received a "Mature" rating.
The creators promise Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be an action-packed game, with the crew in the heart of the action once again, using every weapon and vehicle that they have at their disposal to ensure survival. The action is taken to an unprecedented level of intensity and we are told to expect the kind of vehicle warfare that no action game has seen so far, such as a UAV helicopter controlled via laptop, the UH-60, an AA-gun mounted on a light tank, a quad bike, a two-man patrol boat, and a personal watercraft.
The action is set in various environments from all over the world, from dusty villages to dense jungles and snowy mountainous regions along the Russian borders. With a wide range of deadly weapons and additional vehicles, the crew are best fitted to take out everything that gets in their way, whether that means blasting through, blowing up, shooting down or wiping out everything they come across in their mission. And speaking of destruction, pretty much like its predecessor, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 features plenty of destructible settings and environments. The novelty in this direct sequel is that the level of destruction has been extended. If until now you could only blow out the walls of a building, you can now take it down entirely.
The multiplayer side of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is probably the main focus of this title. This mode allows you to choose from a set of four weapon kits prior to each spawn, namely assault, recon, engineer and medic kits. The specialist kit from the previous title has been removed. Each class has standard sidearms and hand grenades, as well as a primary weapon and a pair of unique gadgets. Another new feature in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is the customizable weapon selection menu. You can unlock and use a series of different gadgets and weapons as you progress with experience points. These points are awarded when you have managed to complete an action that leads to the success of your team. Defending or capturing certain points of interest, eliminating enemies or healing a teammate are just some examples of challenges that can give you experience points which allow for additional and more elaborate weapons to be unlocked. Some of these weapons that you can unlock are useable irrespective of the class that you are using, whereas others are only available to a given class. Items such as short or long barrel grenade launchers, reflex sights and ACOGs can also be unlocked to modify the firearms of the game.
All in all, the unprecedented vehicular combat, the new Destruction 2.0 system and the expansive maps, each bringing a different tactical focus, all sound very promising and make us look forward to what seems to be a very modern and entertaining warfare action game.
