LittleBigPlanet Final Verdict

by Darren Lee Taylor - November 10th, 2008

Its safe to say that by the time you read this, most of you eager PlayStation 3 owners will already be playing some of LittleBigPlanets amazingly varied levels, undertaking missions and activities and creating a world that other users can gladly take part in; adventuring, bouncing and bounding over some of the most intricate and complex level design ever found in a videogame. The simple fact of the matter is, this game is big, in every sense of the word. With such a colourfully robust and simplified introduction to Media Molecules cardboard caper, through the excitingly intellectual voice over of Mr Steven Fry, you are instantly allowed access to some of the games most important features, as you scamper along from left to right, foreground to background, in an attempt to discover some truly spectacular introductions in simple monitor format. Your sackboy is a brand new IP in itself, a growing, intimidating, intellectual, and sophisticated piece of games design, incorporating several explosive attentive aspects to a character model that grows on the player in every instance you play. With such a delightful mannerism to his/her personal dress codes, facial expressions and choice of bubble colour, you can intricately spice up your little person with so much detail using some really great tools. Within five minutes, you will have all of the main tools needed to uncover the games secret weapon, the varied and explosive force of creative power. Not since.. well ever.. have we had a videogame that allows you to actually, physically create a world from scratch. By using some of the most simplistic, devilishly delightful material ever thought up, with glue and sticky tape, pieces of string and wires, buttons and switches, cardboard clouds and green top mountains, snowy peaks and foam sponges, garden gnomes and bubbling brooks, this game really has got it all. You can spend hours playing around with some of LittleBigPlanets materials and characters, placing hundreds of stickers and collectables onto any piece or object imaginable, creating a universe that implodes with creative juices, oozing over your thumb sticks of the dual shock with such magnificent grace and beauty. LittleBigPlanet Final Verdict If you like the wide range of choices you can make in Little Big Planet, then you'll love the game selection at Casino Bellini. And with a NO DEPOSIT casino bonus you can get in the game today! The time spent creating a level will see both tears of joy and pain, as you anguish over some of the more intricate and complex mechanics that are available to you from near off start. With motors and engines attached to drawbridges and secret passage doors, accessed by standing on timely switch points, everything has to be connected and balanced right or else when you come to release the edit mode, it comes crashing down around you, sending your heart into a spiralling and emotional duck and dive. With so much sweat poured over the creations, its great that you can share your dream with the entire world, uploading your levels to the LittleBigPlanet Moon where everyone can have a go and share there playing experiences and thoughts, however pleasant or unpleasant. At the time of writing, Media Molecule has had to start removing certain levels from the game in an attempt to cut out piracy and copyright infringements, which are a shame, as most of these levels that we were lucky enough to play ourselves before the review were excellently reproduced. From Mario to Metal Gear, Halo to Castlevania, all faithfully recreated using the games tool kit, there really is so much potential in what you can achieve. There is no better feeling in the world right now than creating a brand new level from the concepts and drawings in your head, and sharing them with friends and the community, trading secrets and tips to how best utilise some of the games more difficult offerings. There is also an excuse to dig out the PlayStation Camera, as you can now physically place yourself all over the world of LittleBigPlanet, plastering stickers of your mug all over t-shirts and landscapes, menu screens and inventories. You can also take pictures of real life textures, such as denim or tartan, and upload this into the game for use on level edit material. With so much flexibility and freedom to do anything you want, this game knows no bounds. LittleBigPlanet Final Verdict This part of the game goes without saying, that with such a heavy emphasis on using your own creative minds, there would have to be some more added extras on the fully loaded disc to catch attentions and cravings of most PlayStation owners, and luckily, this comes in the form of story mode. Set within cute, neatly packaged levels created especially for the adventurer in mind, this is where you embark on a mission to track down 100% items in all of the main stages, meeting new characters and solving some incredibly tough puzzles along the way. Thats right, its in here that you collect most if not all of the tools and accessories you will need in the creative modes, and so is essential if you want to achieve almost perfection in your game completion. The controls are simply wonderful, with accurate and concise levels of integration allowing your little Sackboy to really come to life; waving his/her hands and body, shaking your hips to the rhythm or expressing your inner thoughts through some truly remarkable facial expressions, all marked up on the d-pad or shoulder buttons. A slight push in a certain direction is all that is needed to take your first few steps in LittleBigPlanets world, and after a few hours playtime, you will be leaping and bounding, soaring through the skies and swimming through the seas in what can only be described as one of the most amazingly detailed games of all time. If you look close, enough you will be able to make out every stitch and thread in your Sackboys body, even the glistening dazzle in his/her eyes can be clearly seen from a high definition setup. LittleBigPlanet Final Verdict Two other area that makes this game so special, is its highly sophisticated co-op integration, with special missions even set aside for a friend online or offline to take part in with you, and the awesome music that accompanies the titles many sprawling levels and worlds. You thought Halo 3, Zelda or even Metal Gear Solid had great music themes, just wait to you hear this. The bumpy, bouncy phonetic tunes will bring music to your ears in such a fashion, lending an almost childlike grin to your face as you begin to realise just how much fun youre having with this title. With so much variety and value in this package, LittleBigPlanet serves up a veritable feast of gaming gold, offering a starter, main course, and dessert that is quite simply, out of this world.

DivDee: Good stuff, thoroughly enjoying the game and thankful I only had to review Naruto rather than this gargantuan game lol. Btw it's Stephen Fry.
