PS Vita will be released on February 15, 2012 in North America

The PS Vita, Sony’s new portable console just recently came out in Japan, so here’s a video review of the Japanese model

* Uses small flash memory cartridges with preloaded and unchangeable games
* Capable of downloading games to the memory card from the PS Store

“Under The Hood” Hardware Specifications:

* Quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 MPCore processor and the processor is typically clocked at 800 MHz to 2,000 MHz
* Quad-core SGX543MP4+ GPU, or graphics processing unit
* 512 MB of RAM
* 128MB of dedicated VRAM (video RAM)
* Sixaxis motion sensing
* Three-axis electronic compass


* Front and back VGA cameras (both of which are 0.3 MP). The front camera is capable of recording at 60fps/320×240 and the back camera is capable of recording at 120 fps


* Standard 802.11 Wi-Fi
* Bluetooth 2.1+EDR
* Available in an 3G model with AT&T as the default US carrier


* The WiFi only model weighs 260 grams while the 3G model weighs 279 grams. In comparison, the iPhone 4s weighs 140 grams and the iPad 2 weighs 601-601 grams (depending on 3G capability)


* Sony’s new LiveArea interface, which is the successor to XrossMediaBar (pronounced cross-media bar and officially abbreviated as XMB – used in the PSP and PS3)
